PU teacher on tour forgets answer sheets
CHANDIGARH: Despite Panjab University making a claim that results are being declared within a month of the exams, students of department of computer science and application are still waiting for their results for exams held in December last year. And the reason, as was disclosed by the vice-chancellor during a senate meeting on Saturday, is as ridiculous as it is deplorable.
1x1 polls

Addressing fellows in the senate meeting, VC RC Sobti, while refusing to name the teacher, said, I was shocked to know that the teacher kept the answer papers with herself from December 3, 2008 till March 23, 2009. He further said that when the teacher was asked for the reasons for the delay, she came up with an excuse that she had gone abroad as her family member was not well. According to information available, around 70 students had appeared for the MCA semester exams in December last year. Taking up the agenda of the meeting, the senate decided that Shri Dhanwantri Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Sector 46, would not be allowed to make admissions to BAMS first year for the session 2009-10 until permission is granted by the university.
The senate also gave final nod to the universitys decision not to allow colleges to conduct and evaluate first year exams for undergraduate courses of their own. The VC said, I am pained that colleges will not be conducting and evaluating first year exams. The hot issue in the meeting, however, was stopping five increments to BB Goyal, a reader in University Business School, as a punishment for awarding 42 marks to a student who had before re-evaluation scored zero. The student in the answer book had written only two words - Radha Swami.
During the meeting, Sobti also announced that no fellow would be paid remuneration for being a member of an inquiry committee. Also, he directed fellows to send their questions or queries 10 days before the senate meeting.
